The past 5 weeks we have spent time writing our introduction, getting to know each other, setting up class norms, and building routines and expectations. Now we get stuck into the detail……who are our characters and how will they deal with complications? Our story is going to take many twists and turns over the next term and a half and how we deal with those twists and turns is going say a lot about who we are as a group and individuals.
We are in the special position of being both a stage 2 and stage 1 class. Our class routines are all about, but not limited to building collaboration, perseverance, and self-discipline. It is inspiring to see these students work together and face new challenges.
I have been amazed at how well the children have adapted to our routines and are aiming to produce quality work. We have been exploring the beach and ocean, tackling new writing tasks, and discussing changes from the past to the present in families and communities. Mathematical experiences sometimes place us deep in the learning pit, but with collaboration and communication we can share our ideas.
I am looking forward to see what type of story we will write together…
