Learning with technology
Here at New Lambton South Public School, we are preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s world. (Department of education)
At NLSPS our students learn to collaborate, create, construct, globally connect, and seek timely feedback to reflect on learning. Our technology program gives students a range of skills that allow them to express themselves creatively in a variety of ways. All students have access to a computer lab, notebooks or Chromebooks, and iPads.
STEM learning
At New Lambton South we are beginning to explore innovative ways of delivering STEM education. STEM education is the learning of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in an interdisciplinary or integrated approach. Students learn about applications in coding, robotics, and the arts, to develop skills in problem-solving, innovation, critical and creative thinking.
Digital Citizenship
To support our digital technology program, we teach students to be safe and responsible digital citizens.
Our students learn about appropriate technology use. Some examples include:
- using the department portal
- collaborating online
- sharing information
- using Google Apps for Education, Microsoft Office 365 and other online learning and teaching tools.
Our students learn to identify and avoid online dangers such as:
- cyberbullying
- inappropriate websites
- social media
